Is massage expensive?Considering a person with 750 hours of specialized health-based training, continuous self-improvement, and years of experience actively dedicates at least an hour in their space to host and attend to you, deeming massage as expensive is inaccurate. When we compare it to services provided by professionals like plumbers, hairdressers, and mechanics, the perception that "massage is expensive" proves to be unfounded, and the requested amount is reasonable. Moreover, due to its preventive nature, massage proves to be much more cost-effective in terms of health expenditures. Beyond that, enhancing our overall enjoyment of life, it is genuinely priceless. Lastly, it's crucial to remember that anything beautiful we do for ourselves is never truly expensive.

What is the benefit of massage? In addition to its well-known benefits, massage offers a deeper advantage by enhancing body awareness, a crucial aspect for preventive health measures. Preserving one's well-being fundamentally requires protective actions. By being mindful of our daily movements and their potential impact on the body, we can actively avoid potential harm and safeguard our health. Moreover, the connection between body and mind is reliant on our ability to feel and understand our body. Life's stresses often lead to physical tightness, negatively affecting this crucial connection. Consequently, unwanted physical and mental issues may arise. Furthermore, developing a heightened body awareness through massage significantly improves performance in sports. This improved connection enhances muscle control and reduces the risk of injuries, ultimately optimizing overall athletic performance.

What should I expect from my massage session?Regardless of the type of massage you choose, I will begin by discussing your current condition and any specific areas that require attention. Communication is essential to ensure you have a fantastic massage experience, so please share your preferences with me. I maintain a high level of professionalism, ensuring only the area being worked on is undraped. You may disrobe to your comfort level. After your session, I will step out of the room to give you privacy. You will find water, a refreshment towel, and chocolate in your private cabinet. Once you are ready, I will return to discuss your session, share my observations, and discuss how we can improve your next session. We will then proceed with checkout and booking your next appointment. Please note that we require 24 hours' notice for cancellations. Late cancellations will result in the forfeiture of the deposit. If you do not show up for your appointment, you will also lose your deposit.

How will I feel after my massage treatment? Most people feel very relaxed, and some experience significant relief from long-term aches and pains. You might feel a bit sluggish initially, followed by increased energy, heightened awareness, and productivity that can last for days. After a medical or sports massage, you may feel slightly sore the next day, similar to after a workout. A hot shower or soak in the tub can help ease this soreness. Increase your water intake by a glass or two to keep your tissues hydrated and healthy.
-
Will the massage hurt?A light, relaxing massage should not hurt. However, a deep tissue massage may cause some discomfort. If the pain is unbearable, or if you find yourself holding your breath to endure it, ask your therapist to adjust the pressure. Always communicate with your therapist about the pressure, as pain can cause muscle tension, negating the massage's relaxing effects. The most effective massage works with your body’s natural response, not against it.
-
Can I talk during my session?Yes, feel free to talk if you'd like. The key is to relax and enjoy the experience. Many people start by talking and naturally fall into a quiet state of relaxation as the massage progresses. It's important to speak up if anything makes you uncomfortable. Let your therapist know if you feel too warm or cold, if the room is too bright, or if the pressure needs adjustment. Communication ensures you have the best experience possible.

You might be covered by your insurance, making it even more rewarding to take care of your wellness. You can also use FSA funds for our services.
-
The pressure isn't deep enough, but I don't want to complain. What should I do?You are encouraged to openly communicate with the massage therapist about your preferences and comfort. If anything needs to be adjusted, or if we are almost (but not quite) getting the right spot, just speak up and let us know right away! However, it is a myth that massage therapy needs to hurt in order to be effective. Some of the most effective techniques involve very light, gentle touch. Often, too much pressure can cause muscles to tighten further, and detract from the effectiveness of your treatment.
-
Do you provide deep tissue? We do not offer deep tissue services because we understand that relaxation is closely tied to the nervous system. Therefore, we have designed our massage sessions as a holistic experience, meticulously perfecting every detail. Scientific evidence supports this approach, highlighting the limitations and potential drawbacks of deep tissue massage. Recent studies have indicated that deep tissue techniques, while effective for some specific conditions, can often cause unnecessary discomfort and may not provide the long-term benefits that were once attributed to them. For example, a study published in the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies found that while deep tissue massage can temporarily reduce muscle tension, it often leads to increased soreness and inflammation, which can counteract the relaxation benefits sought by clients. Additionally, research in the International Journal of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork suggests that lighter, more targeted techniques focusing on the parasympathetic nervous system are more effective in promoting overall relaxation and reducing stress-related hormones like cortisol. By focusing on these more refined techniques, we aim to provide a more comfortable and effective experience that supports long-term well-being and holistic health.
-

You have the right to request a break or end the massage at any time, for any reason.
-
Can I joke about “happy endings” even if I have no interest in receiving one?No, not even as a joke. This is disrespectful to your massage therapist and our profession. -
Should I see a Massage Therapist if I’m not in pain?Yes, massage therapy can be a preventive treatment. -
What do I do during a massage treatment?Make yourself comfortable. If your therapist needs you to adjust your position, they will let you know. Otherwise, feel free to change your position as needed. Many people close their eyes and relax completely during a session, while others prefer to talk. You don't need to stay awake; it's common to drift in and out of sleep during a treatment. This indicates deep relaxation, and your body will still benefit from the massage. Your therapist will wake you gently at the end of the treatment, so no need to worry if you nod off.
-
What if I am embarrassed about my body? Our massage therapists are experienced professionals who respect all body types. We ensure a non-judgmental environment, regardless of body weight, hair, skin conditions, scars, disabilities, medical conditions, or personal history. Your modesty will be preserved with proper draping using towels and blankets. The therapist will give you privacy before and after the session to undress and dress.
